ESPORT DISCIPLINES AT DREAMHACK AUSTIN
From May 6-8th gamers from around the globe will descend on Austin to compete live at DreamHack Austin for both cash prizes and the glory of becoming a DreamHack champion. Today we are excited to three of the main titles which will be featured at DreamHack Austin 2016. These being Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Super Smash Brothers Melee and Street Fighter V. Keep in mind we will still add games beyond these, so if your favourite game is missing don’t fret! All tournaments will have more information covering the prize pools, tournament formats and livestreams in the coming months!
CS:GO
Counter Strike is one of the oldest esport games around, and Counter Strike: Global Offensive has exploded in 2015 to become arguably the most popular esport in the western World. We are thrilled to announce that Counter Strike: Global Offensive will be featured at DreamHack Austin. The competition will feature international teams, as well the opportunity for up and coming teams to prove their mettle against them in the traditional DreamHack way!
Super Smash Brothers Melee
Smash is a game with one of the most awesome grass roots community out there, as we gear up to host the title and work with the community at both DreamHack London and DreamHack Winter in 2015, we are very excited to say that the first Smash tournament we host in 2016 will be at DreamHack Austin!
Street Fighter
Street Fighter is one of the classic titles at DreamHack! Normally hosting some of the European stops in Europe, we’re excited to support the game on North American soil as well! Bringing different communities together is what DreamHack is all about, and we’re very excited to be putting Street Fighter under the same roof as StarCraft, CS:GO, Smash and Hearthstone!
BYOC Competitions
What would a DreamHack LAN be without BYOC competitions? While some of the above tournaments may feature BYOC tie-ins or qualifiers. We’ll also be hosting regular BYOC competitions for visitors in ANY title there is interest in! When you purchase your LAN seat be sure to let us know what game title interests you most, as the BYOC competitions will be defined by our visitors!
